Accelerated Options

*SPC - St. Petersburg College

Dual Enrollment – Offers free SPC courses that give students credits toward a high school diploma and a college degree. Courses are available on SPC campuses and some high school campuses. Available to 11th and 12th graders.

Early College – Offers opportunity to attend school full-time at an SPC campus for free. Students may earn a high school diploma and an associate degree. Available to 11th and 12th graders.

Early Admission – Offers free college classes that also fulfill high school graduation requirements. Courses available only on SPC campuses. Available to 12th graders ONLY.

Requirements

  • For academic courses, a 3.0 unweighted cumulative GPA or a 3.0 in the subject area to be studied at SPC.
  • For technical courses, a 2.0 unweighted cumulative GPA or a 2.0 in the subject area to be studied at SPC.
  • Satisfactory scores on the College Placement Test (PERT/Accuplacer) or SAT/ACT/FCAT.
  • A college GPA of 2.0 (C average) is required to remain in the Dual Enrollment program.

Assessment Graduation Requirements

Credit Recovery/Grade Forgiveness

Credit Recovery - when a student fails a course that he/she must have for graduation and needs to actually recover the credit.

Grade Forgiveness - when a student earns either a D or fails a course and wants to earn a better grade to improve grade point average.
Options

  • Critical Thinking Study Skills (Nova Net) - on class schedule.
  • ELP - after school, Tuesday and Thursday 2:30-4:30pm, room 4-101. See your counselor for sign-up sheet.
  • Night School – Lakewood, Dixie, Northeast and Tomlinson. Must be 16 or older. Credit recovery only for a maximum of 2 credits. See your counselor for sign-up sheet.
  • Florida Virtual School – www.flvs.net . See your counselor for approval to register.

Fee Waivers

If you receive free/reduced lunch, you are eligible to receive the following waivers to be used during junior and/or senior year. 2 ACT test fee waivers, 2 SAT test fee waivers, and 4 College application fee waivers total, not each year. See your counselor for a waiver.

Tutoring

Free Tutoring – Available after school on Tuesday and Thursday from 2:30pm-4:30pm in room 4-101.
Homework Hotline – 727-547-7223 or 727-442-3226, Monday through Thursdays from 5-8 pm.
